Ibrahim: Pahlawan Melayu : the Malay Warrior

My colleagues and friends have been urging me to write my story, be it in the form of a memoirs or biography, because they felt I had so much to write about concerning events and personal experiences throughout my more than three decades of military service for the country. This is true, especially since I had personal knowledge of critical events with reference to the modern history of this country. The events I refer to are namely, during the three decades prior to and following the events surrounding World War II, Malaya under the Japanese Occupation, the British Military Administration (BMA), the rule of the Malayan Union, the period surrounding the establishment of the Federation of Malaya, the Emergency of 1948 to 1960, the Indonesian Confrontation from 1964 to 1968, the 13th of May 1969 racial riots, the drive towards Malayan independence and Independence itself (Merdeka) on the 31st of August 1957, and finally the establishment of Malaysia on the 16th of September 1963. It is my firm conviction, that if the aforementioned events, be they official experiences or personal in nature, are not recorded somewhere in writing, factual history for the benefit of future Malaysian generations, especially the future young officers of the Malaysian Armed Forces, would be lost forever.
